Frost Descent: maple leaves turn red, winter approaches

Descent of Frost is the 18th solar term among the 24 solar terms, and the sixth and final solar term of autumn. It occurs annually around October 23-24 on the Gregorian calendar, when the sun reaches 210° ecliptic longitude. At this time, cold air influence intensifies, nighttime surface radiation cooling becomes more pronounced, and some regions begin to see the first frost.

Climatically, temperatures drop noticeably in the north with frequent frost; mornings and evenings become cold in the south, and typhoon season approaches its end. In agriculture, autumn harvest wraps up while autumn planting concludes, and preparations are made for winter crops and facility winterization against cold.
